Back in the year 2002, the Saturn SL2 was a complex car that took the market by storm. It gave tough competition to the other models.  The 2002 Saturn SL2 had four doors. It had a capacity of seating five passengers. In addition to this, the car had a number of features but all this was available at a very low price.  Everyone wanted to go for the 2002 Saturn SL2.  It did not only provide great value for money but its exterior was also very sophisticated and its level of performance was higher than some of the other vehicles in the market that preceded this kind of car. Among the features that made this car a dream to drive were the AM/FM stereo. The stereo had four speakers and powerful air conditioning.  The car provided maximum comfort with good quality music blaring from its speakers. So as to be able to accommodate surplus gears and luggage, it had rear seats that split 60/40 and folded up. This allowed seating for two passengers in the back of the car.  It had a driver’s seat that had an adjustable lumber. This gave the support that helped to increase the comfort of the driver.

It had a steering with adjustable wheel for height. With regards to the interior of the car, it was fitted with upgraded cloth upholstery. The exterior also had color sport handles and bumpers that gave the car a modern look.  To make sure that the car always had a flawless appearance externally, each of the 2002 Saturn SL2 was constructed to resist dents and corrosion. Its body was given protection with the installation of a polymer panel.  This was the most comfortable car ever. In order to give best performance, the 2002 Saturn SL2 was fitted with a 1.9 liter, sixteen-valve engine cylinder. The cylinder had a dual camshaft overhead. This made it able to produce 122ibs-ft of torque and a house power of 24 to cruise through any terrain without any problem with an independent four wheel suspension providing a ride that is very good. The 2002 Saturn SL2 came with touring SBR tires. It also had steering of 25 inch steel wheels with wheel covers to give a finished look.  The vehicle had front drive and transmission with five manual speed. The Saturn Ion was the brand's entry-level car from 2003-'07. Aimed at younger buyers, the Ion got what Saturn considered unique styling and design features, and a strong 2.2-liter engine. We never thought very highly of it, however, and took issue with its poor interior quality, unimpressive driving dynamics and bizarre styling inside and out. The Ion gave way to the vastly superior Astra hatchback.

The Ion launched in 2003 as a replacement for the now-defunct S-Series. Throughout its lifespan, Saturn was vigilant about making minor improvements (particularly for 2005) to the quality of the ride, interior and overall refinement, so we suggest more recent model years if you've really got your heart set on a used Ion (although we hope you don't).The front-wheel-drive Saturn Ion always came in two body styles: a four-door sedan and the "Quad Coupe." The Quad Coupe was styled like a two-door coupe but actually had two rearward-opening doors similar in style to an extended-cab pickup. For each body style, there were three primary trim levels: a base 1 (dropped for '06), 2 and 3.

All trims came standard with a 145-horsepower 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine. For '06 and later, the Ion 3 sedan gained an optional 2.4-liter four-cylinder with variable valve timing, which was good for 175 hp. It was part of an Enhanced Performance Package -- only available with the Ion 3 -- that also included antilock brakes, traction control and a sport-tuned suspension. A five-speed manual transmission came standard on these main trims, but most used Ions you'll come across will come with the optional four-speed automatic or an earlier continuously variable automatic transmission.

There was an additional performance trim for the Quad Coupe called the Saturn Ion Red Line. It was powered by a supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which bumped power up to 205 hp. The Ion Red Line came exclusively with a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission, 17-inch wheels, upgraded disc brakes and a track-tuned suspension package.

One of the Ion's few strong points was its amount of cargo room in all trims. The front passenger seat folded flat, and trunk space was among the largest in the segment. The base Ions came pretty bare-bones, without standard air-conditioning or power mirrors and windows. You had to step up to the Ion 3 for these features, as well as 16-inch wheels and tires, cruise control and an upgraded CD/MP3 audio system. Given the Ion's significant depreciation, we suggest keeping your search to the Ion 3.

In road tests and comparison tests, our reviewers found the Saturn Ion to be among the lower performers in the entry-level sedan and coupe classes. Despite the strong engine, the Ion lacked liveliness, and overall performance was conservative at best. The steering was overly heavy. Even with the continuous interior improvements made throughout its lifespan, the seats were uncomfortable and offered little support. Overall, we suggest looking elsewhere for an economy car.

The 2011 Saturn Vue is for young families who want a manageable, but highly functional, sport-utility, one that can haul plenty of gear without requiring huge parking spaces. The 2011 2011 VUE’s closest competitors include the Buick Rendezvous, the Jeep Liberty, and the Toyota RAV4. Upon introduction, the FWD 4 is equipped with a standard 2.2-liter, I4, 143-horsepower engine that achieves 23-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional.

The AWD V6 is equipped with a standard 3.5-liter, V6, 250-horsepower engine. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2011 2011 VUE is a carryover from 2003. 2011 Saturn Vue seats five and has Saturn’s traditional dent-resistant plastic body panels. For 2011, 17-inch alloy wheels replace 16s as standard on AWD V6s and optional on 2WD V6s.

Looking back at the beginning of Saturn Corporation, it was the early 1980s, when the American market needed fuel efficient vehicles and more affordable than what was offered by the automakers. It was 1983, when General Motors announced its “Saturn” project, a small car with better fuel consumption and with lower price tag. The Saturn division was introduced officially in 1985 with its tag line “Different” with print media and TV commercials. The first model line introduced was Saturn “S” Series vehicles. With new platform and technology, these vehicles were dent resistant and fuel efficient. The S series was not only available in Sedans and coupes, but also available in wagons. The Saturn production plant was situated in Spring Hill, Tennessee and operating without GM’s supervision.The first Saturn vehicles were equipped with 85 to 124 horse power engines. As a starter, they were doing well and gaining market interest by fuel efficiency to run 40 miles in a gallon. The average was good and Saturn climbed on top of this segment of the market.

The second factor for this new brand to gain fame was its affordability. None of the market competitors was offering such type of vehicles with a price like Saturn cars. As the 1990’s decade wore out, customers seemed distracted by the market competition. There was no new product added by the brand and its market share seemed to drop off. Within no time, the brand started to suffer more due to decreasing profits and sales. GM’s management also neglected the brand’s weak position.Entering in the 2000s, GM gave its attention towards Saturn and in a short time; the brand launched its new series name the “L Series”. These models were introduced in sedan and wagon styles with midsized bodies. The Saturn L series was offered with automatic and manual transmission consisting of 4 to 5 speed gears and equipped with straight four and V6 engines. These cars were based on the Opel Vectra B manufactured at GM Wilmington, Delaware.In 2002, Saturn stepped into the SUV segment of the market by the launch of its model “Saturn Vue”. With its innovative features and low price, it became the main attraction for SUV buyers and stayed the best seller for the brand. Moving further, Saturn also came out with its minivan the “Relay” and by GM support, Hybrid technology was also introduced with the “Saturn Vue Green Line”.

The brand also expanded its product line by introducing it sedan “Aura,” “Sky Roadster Sports” and “Vue” full size Crossovers. Saturn “Astra” also stayed in production for the European market but for a short time span.In 2009, GM faced a financial crisis and bankruptcy which resulted in Saturn division to shut down its production. GM offered Saturn for sale, and soon the news came out that Penske Corporation would be acquiring the marquee but the negotiations turned out to be inadequate and the deal was called off by GM.At present, the Saturn division is still closed and the brand name is still owned by GM. So far, there is no press release by the parent brand for restarting the Saturn production or placing the brand for sale.
