The BMW Z4 is one of the most successful cars from BMW and it is the successor to the BMW Z3. The production of the BMW Z4 was started in 2003 and the first generation of BMW Z4 was codenamed E85.

There are only two variants coupe and roadster. The coupe was available from 2006 and the second generation of the BMW Z4 codenamed E89 was appeared in 2009.

After being introduced at the Paris Motor Show in September 2002, the commercial launch in France of the Z4 roadster was celebrated on March 27, 2003. The BMW Z4 2002 was released as a replacement for the Z3 roadster introduced and 100,000 Z4s were sold by BMW from 2002 to 2004.

Available engines since 2002 year: 2.0 liters 150hp, or six-cylinder 2.2-liter 170 hp, 2.5-liter 192 hp, 3.0-liter and 265hp, all with fuel injection. The transmission was available in 5/6 speed manual or automatic gearboxes.

The 2009 model, namely the BMW Z4 E89 begun with an 2.5 liter engine with a power of 204hp, followed by three engines: 258 hp, 306 hp and 340 hp. Its bodywork is coded E86 Coupe and E85 to become the first generation, second generation is the E89 roadster.
