Founded in 1948 by Soichiro Honda, the company was a Japanese multinational corporation primarily known as a manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles. After World War II, the Japanese nation was struggling to get a less expensive and fuel efficient transportation and then, Honda came out with its motor cycles which contained low cost engines and were very cheap to build.Honda quickly progressed to manufacturing two-wheeled transportation far more stylish than simple motors installed in bicycle frames. In the year 1949, Honda’s new model, the D-Type was introduced which could attain a speed of up to 50 Mph. It consisted of a steel frame and was also installed with a suspension in the front and rear. They also entered in Formula One racing. In 1970, Honda introduced its first car to the US market named “Diminutive N600”. Initially it was a big struggle for the brand but after a couple of years, they introduced “The Civic”. It offered bigger scope than Honda’s earlier models and was fuel efficient and affordable; though the quality was not superior to other US brands but fuel efficiency counted big time. As the Civic got popular, Honda introduced Accord in 1976 and the duo became famous among the American consumers.Honda’s success stayed steady to maintain its reputation as a reliable manufacturer of cars and also for motorcycles throughout the ‘80s and its sales and profits continued to grow. Honda started to manufacture Accord in America in 1982 and became the most popular car producer around 1989. Later that year, Honda’s new brand Acura introduced its upscale and more luxurious models and stayed in a positive sale. Honda continues to innovate with technologies such as VTECH, VVTI, and aluminum body assembly with more safety and Hybrid power trains. In the current time span, Honda’s range of automobiles consists of Hybrids.At present, Honda’s lineup consists of fuel efficient hybrids, minivans with large space, family sedans, SUVs and pickups. The brand stands as a regular quality keeper in different segments and models like the Civic and the Accord are measured as benchmarks in their particular classes.
